Entanglements 2, large (42 cm h x 29.5 cm w), pastel on paper
These works on paper are produced by hand. Some of them are literally "finger paintings" and the artist's fingerprints can be seen. In a culture dominated by ideas, narratives, and information, these works are studies in light, colour, human perception, and the imagination. The title Entanglements refers to a property physicists call 'entanglement', which says that, bizarrely, particles that are even light years apart move together and influence each other. Entanglement is a very unintuitive, seemingly irrational property of our universe and points to the fundamental strangeness of the world. It's wonderful. The Entanglements series may also include juvenile images of sailboats, sunsets, notes on the absurd and the banal, and thoughts of animals or people (like Alan Davies or Ariana Grande).
